Wachira Waruru…genius?

Before I go on with this post…I must say WW is a very nice guy (He might not know I own this shitty space on the web) but we’ve talked mara kadhaa

Ww na marafiki

Now…I was with some Royal media peeps and I kinda said WW ni mambo yote…one of them toa-d that MSCHEEEEW sound (why can’t I do that 😦

But frankly I think WW has managed to assemble a brilliant team that is making us go gaga over Citizen and MOST of their other outfits. Wachira deserves the praise, remember how he quickly dusted off KBC kiasi when he was there?

So is Wachira a media biz genius?

ww needs to have coffee with the KBC GOON and give him, some lessons

There is no doubt that the guy is good at what he does. Citizen was just a rickety makeshift outfit before he went there and look at where he has taken it. Of course there will be haters out there but lets give credit where its due.And what became of the rumour that he was moving to K24? And yes, the KBC guy could take some lessons from WW

Been reliably informed by that WW will not be at Citizen for very long, that he has landed a massive big bucks world bank/UN type jobo in either latin america or one of those places. (apparently he has a an aunt who is seriously senior at the Un in newyork and who has the year of the Secretary General banki Moon and we all know the UN is about who you know.. Can citizen continue to thrive without WW? of course, he is not God, but but mingi respect to him, he is not a genius as you suggest but one very sharp dude

No! WW simply knows the Kenyan society at heart. We are very good pretenders at being Westernised but inside we are simply nyauthis in suits etc. But yes, he seems to have the right media advisers/consultants who tell him where the niches are in the Kenyan market. Wish I was in his shoes. Macharia should not let him go…ampatie shares etc. That’s what happens in the developed world when you prove to be indispensable. As for the KBC goon, that’s a loser to the end. I know the guy personally and he is simply an asshole. LOL.

WW isn’t actually doing his job description. Do you ever see lina linus or paul melly go outta their way like ww does? Esp sourcing for new shows, making it to pitches to clients. He fired the programming manager and made the production manager somehow head of tv. I think he’s gone beyond what was expected but by doing the manual work he’s brought in more cash for himself and the company by extension

true, the guy has cash, drives a baaaad Beamer X5 to work and a range rover sport on weekends, so am told. A guy who worked with him at KBC once told me that whatever you may say about WW, the one thing about him is that he is not a tribalist, unnlike kina linus gitahi etc who socialise only with kiuks. ww has many jango and lunje pals that he drink JW black label with him mpaka che

    Small correction. It’s an X6.

In this industry,it doesn’t matter how much you paying or how good your workers are. It’s how good your strategists are and how good you’ve got the ears for your clients(Viewers/Listeners),look at any Royal Media Entity, they’ve got in my opinion the Best PR ever in this country leave alone their tailor made service to there clients. I know they thieve Ideas alot but as Jay z told Nas ‘I sampled your voice, you was using it wrong, you made it a hot line/rhyme,I made it a hot song’ they really know how to make the stolen Idea look like they own patent and that’s how the game is played. WW is the a beast despite being a Perv, but he’s a perv to the benefit of folks so I don’t see to no big deal in that.

Bottom line, the man has transformed TV, I have never met him but one of the few people In Kenyan media that I truely admire. He has created opportunities for so many people but as always haters galore. Go WW, very many peeps appreciate you

@ ED so now Citizen Radio has lost Vincent Ateya to milele Fm wats going on?

  12. Posted by Godfrey on March 22, 2010 at 1:30 pm

Waruru’s departure from KBC was a huge loss, for he could have transformed the station by now. The problem is that he was fired from KBC for not giving government big-shots enough airtime on the news. Apparently, every minister in gava wants to be seen on the news, just like in the old days of ‘baba na mama.’ However, his forced move was a windfall for Citizen. In fact, Citizen has become the de-facto national station because it does many of the things that KBC is supposed to be doing, but which it is not.

Seconded, waruru came to KBC and gave us pride. Not a day passes here without hearing someone longing for the short time he was here. By spearheading the promotion of local productions he began a process that has provided jobs and opportunities for actors producers scripters, etc. I wish there were more like him in our media industry and if we hear that he is returning to KBC we will celebrate

I work at citizen and I have watched him turn this place around ile mbaya. me and my pals at the office are proud and happy to work for WW and guys say That they look forward to those meetings he chairs ati they leave there feeling inspired and motivated,

i think if you worked at citizen when it moved to state house road in the beginning you would have known that there was talent there that time the station was being run like a kiosk then came two good guys gikonyo and afune and thats where the station made a turn around …i would agree that WW has tired to give it a modern look but i still give a thumbs up to these two and mostly a guru in production called Julz he is the station sound of RMS with out doubt without him the station was going no where…

      • Posted by micky on March 25, 2010 at 11:12 am

ha ha ha haa!!!where did you guys get this Julz idea from? that guy is nothing. infact he does nothing. his job is just ordering people and scrutching his damn ass…..infact he doesnt have any papers, he is a form 4 leaver with nothing!

  15. Posted by Blip on March 22, 2010 at 3:24 pm

this guys is a GENIUS. SK should be proud of this guy. infact a new X5 every quater would be good.
funny thing KBC never saw this. pole.

  16. Posted by mantek on March 22, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Jumper you are very right about afune, Gikonyo and Julz for the are the guys who have worked on those royal media radios, especially Afune and julz. But when it comes to TV, no one in the market comes close to WW, even kina Linus and wanyaga accept that fact (privately of course). if you remember the Citizen of the days of people’s parliament at jevanjee and referendum propaganda and see what it has become today, hats off

  17. Posted by rispa-T on March 22, 2010 at 7:50 pm

basi tumekubali, the guy is deadly, that has always been obvious, so please end this discussion and move on, Ed, so can we now hear about Linus Gitahim Wanyaga Paul, Quarcoo, Rose kimotho, Waweru-KBC, shit they are all kiuks–but pose a question on them as well

    • Posted by Mukio on March 23, 2010 at 5:36 am

Ok! Let’s start with Wawesh of KBC…

      • Posted by jumper on March 23, 2010 at 6:11 am

Well i guess for the dudes they all have one thing in common Sc@#w the girls in thier station ..it was said that wawesh-KBC had massive scandals on the mamaz he was shagging in NMG before crossing to KBC with a few of them to cover his tracks?

  18. Posted by Mr. Burns on March 23, 2010 at 8:43 am

The politics at NMG is far much bigger than the game politicians play, cuz they part of it.
